The rugs we offer at Boehme are a unique expression of Guatemala’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. Each of our rugs is carefully crafted using repurposed scraps of huipiles—the iconic traditional blouses that are an integral part of Guatemalan identity.

Huipiles, handwoven using the backstrap loom technique, are true masterpieces of textile art. The colors and patterns that adorn each huipil reflect the history, beliefs, and worldview of Guatemala. From the blue of the sky and water to the red of dawn and energy, every color carries deep cultural and spiritual meaning.

By reusing these existing materials, we are also contributing to environmental preservation.

Each rug is a one-of-a-kind piece, telling its own story. It’s a way to carry a piece of history with you while supporting local artisan communities.
