Hand-painted porcelain is a deeply rooted artisanal tradition in the municipality of Santa Catarina Palopó, located on the shores of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala. This place is known for its cultural richness, its vibrant textiles, and in recent years, for the rise of its artisanally decorated ceramics.

The patterns are usually inspired by traditional Mayan textiles and natural elements such as flowers, birds, and landscapes of Lake Atitlán. Blue, turquoise, and green tones are common, reflecting the colors of the lake and the natural surroundings. Each piece is molded and painted by hand, making every item a unique work of art.

The craftsmanship of Palopó is not only a form of artistic expression, but also an important source of income for local communities. Furthermore, it drives sustainable tourism and preserves Mayan traditions in a modern way.
