This candle is the first design made in-house. It draws on existing candles, the carnation and the tuberose, changed in size, design and colour: it is the first two-colour candle, in a yellow that recalls the pacaya flower. The pacaya is actually a palm whose flower is used both for decoration and for cooking. The idea was to see whether that same essence could hold at another, smaller scale without losing what makes it recognisable.
Candles made in Guatemala, where the technique is passed down through generations by Guatemalan women who transform wax into unique objects.
The fire that lights them predates the wax itself. In Maya spirituality it is the way to communicate with the Creator, once offered as ocote pine, today held in wax.
Note:
This candle is made to be burned and can also be used as an ornament.
